I have an unusual issue going on with one of my birds. I've noticed white lesions/plaques build up around the throat area. No weight loss or loss of appetite of any kind, just gargled breathing. I've only tried treating with Tylan 50 and has done nothing. From little reasearch ive done i can assume is bacteria fungus build up but have no idea how to get rid of it 100%.
My friend you most likely are dealing with Gape worm, caused by birds eating earthworms , slugs or snails usually, damp ground is a bad place the get the Gape worm. I have used Ivomec, it took care of the problem, but you can also use Levamisole to cure the problem. The lesions you are seeing are the female worn and the male worm attaching together in the windpipe of the host birds where they will mate and reproduce. it is spread also by other birds eating from poop of host birds
