Heard a lot about the Turkish hint birds over here lately and that they are doing very well. I have never owned one before and just wonder...are they are pure breed? Or a cross like the Brazilian? To me they look like an Aseel Shamo mix. I have heard some say they are an Aseel?
Hello Joe, from what iv seen and experienced with the hint asil strains in the UK,is that the true pure hint asils is no better than the Indian aseels ore the Pakistany aseels are, the hint asils that are winning the most amount of fights on main land Europe and in the UK are crosses of Jap shamo ore Brazilian shamo and some are using Thai blood and also Burmese blood to so as iv been told by cockers in France and Germany, but you have only got to look at them to see the shamo blood in them, as the pure hint asil looks just like a slime sporty type asil, they are breed for naked heel only in Turkey, i have had 3-4 different types of hint asil over the last few years and iv found them to be no better than a good Indian aseel ore Pakistany aseel, i have had one hint asil strain for over 12 years now but they are the big type of hint asil with weighs of 9 1/2lbs to just over 10lbs, but they are not pure hint asils as i haded south Indian aseel blood to them at the beginning, but in my area they are rated the best 10lbs asil fighter's, Joe there is a full page about the hint asil in one of the forum's but i just can't remember which one it's in, the best hint asils iv seen are in nasser sabbs gallery, and peyman as some real good hint asils as well, if you get in touch with one of them they will be able to tell you more about them,i hope this as been of some help to you Joe.
Thanks for taking the time to answer my question Wayne. I thought the ones I've seen in the flesh looked sporty like with a shamo wing carriage.
You have any pics of your hints Wayne? I've tried finding your gallery but can't seem to get into it.
Hello Pedro, I dont know if you can find any Hint Horoz in the USA. But I presume there must be Turkish communities in the States. Goodluck with the quest.
Below some general information about the Hint Horoz breed.
The Hint Horoz is a mediumweight Asil. It name means "cock from India" (Hint = India). To cut things short Turkish guestworkers working in Continental Europe started to import Asian gamefowl especially Shamo into their country. Today the big majority of the Hint Horoz are crosses between Hint Horoz, Shamo, Brazilians, etcetera. The type has changed from Asil-like to Shamo-like. These birds have an extreme good reputation. In the pits of Northern France these Hint Horoz crosses are the most favorite and effective birds. Hereunder some photos of the Hint Horoz.

Old style Asil-type Hint Horoz (imported into the Ukraine).
Modern day Hint Horoz cross (Shamo-type). The majority of the Hint Horoz are of this type.
