Of fowl to create hibrids or sinpley line breeding hibrids to keep inprovebing them.I make and example on what i am asking.would the Geo.plucker are they better fowl today ,than when it was first crossed from the original families.Thai and brazilian.
I personally like crossing to different pure families of fowl to get the very best hybrid vigor that i could get,and i accationaly have done a three way cross .sometimes the third family has something to add that other two donot have. But never have line bred crosses. But i know other breeders have done it very sussesfuly.Just curious to know their experiences.
From personal experience, before line breeding a crossbred family, you first have to inbreed brother to sister; to homogenized. Then you can begin line breeding to the choice male or female product of the inbreeding.
I just did exactly that with my Pasquale - Bob Rodgers. I bred my best Bullstag to his mother and his sister. Iíve been pleasantly surprised by both breedings. His sister was a bigger boned bird and her offspring show that. His mother has produced good birds to. I will use all of these to set this line and establish it the way I want it. I have a Saab/Pierre that is well built to add anything missing. I want these bred clean and tight. To use for crossing to Ga Pluckers.
JBabcock you have excellent foundation birds and a clear vision of where you want them.just remember that when you get them where you want, you will need to breed brother to sister to stabilize your new line.
