I have read with interest the discussion of aseels its origin and genetic makeup and to be honest I have enlightened myself with a few facts. One of the most important aspect sometimes missing in this discussion is "About the man behind the Aseel". To me that is very significant more than the ethnicity of Muslim, Hindu, or Christian. Not everyone has the discipline, dedication and patience to go about breeding for perfection. I was born in POST Independent India after August 15th 1947 when India achieved a well deserved Independence from the English Empire. Growing up I can attest that I did not come across any Jewish person in this hobby in India, the closest were some Parsis (Zorastrians) who bred aseels. I also came across Hindus but unfortunately these were of the lower caste ( Untouchables) with the vast majority of trainers, breeders and Ustaads being Muslim. Having said this the sport of Aseel cocking erased the ethnic divide between different religion and ethnicity and there was a lot of fellowship among the different people. In my earlier post I had mentioned that there was a major emphasis towards education of different fields and this should explain why majority of high caste hindus were conspicuous by there absence in the aseel sport. I have learnt that in southern India Christians are entering the hobby but mostly in the weapons sport, and some hindus are entering the sport because the aseel is so much talked about in the western countries.
